Facial Reflexology

The roots of Facial Reflexology go back many centuries, from traditions and practices from around the world.
Today, Facial Reflexology has two main streams: the Multireflexology Dien Chan, created by Dr. Bùi Quôc Châu, in Vietnam and the Sorensensistem Method, created by Lone Soerensen in Argentina and Spain.
“Châu’s method is largely inspired by Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese medicinal systems, while Sorensen’s method is inspired by both Eastern and South American traditions as well as neuroanatomy.”
The modality is based on the concept that areas of the face correspond with different organs and body systems. By stimulating reflex points within these areas, the corresponding area of the brain that is.
responsible for regulating the corresponding organs are stimulated, producing a response.
Due to the many influences on facial reflexology I like to use a combination of these methods, which will make each treatment unique and customized to each clients needs on that particular day. I use a combination of facial massage, still points using either my fingers or use of a facial reflexology tool to aid in the stimulation of specific points and zones relate to the symptoms and needs of the client. Effect’s felt during and after continual treatments may feel different for the client as the brain and body respond to the energetic shifts that occur during facial reflexology. The primary goal of reflexology is still the same, to nourish the nervous system into a parasympathetic response to help the body find homeostasis. Facial reflexology provides a different area to access the network of nerves that are interconnected to other areas of the body, just like you’ll find in foot, hand, or ear reflexology, we are just working with a different access point.
What to expect in a facial reflexology treatment with me.
An intake form is needed to go through your health history. Then you’ll be setup on a massage table. We start with a facial cleanse to the chest, neck and face, a hot towel will be used to wash the face after. Next is a gentle massage to the chest, shoulder, neck and face to help relax the muscles and tissues and promote relaxation and circulation. Then a customized reflexology sequence will be provided to the points of the face using my hands and/or facial reflexology tools (rollers, rakes, gua sha, detector wand) which will help to stimulate the reflex points related to the different organs, glands, and body parts through neurological pathways. Then treatment ends with another hot towel and an application of facial oils to leave your face and body feeling nourished.
